IMPORTANT
Dye works differently to paint. Paint grabs onto a surface and changes its colour fully. In contrast, dye soaks in and takes on the colour of the material. So, if you dye a blue item with a red dye, it will turn purple.
Always start by cleaning the item you intend to dye!
SMOOTH LEATHER
Smooth leather must be thoroughly prepped using our Preparer & Deglazer.
Furthermore, smooth leather should be reconditioned with an appropriate leather care product, after dyeing and before sealing.
Application of a sealer is recommended (Acrylic Finisher or 4-Coat).
SUEDE
Suede should be brushed before dyeing to ensure even application, and after dyeing (once completely dry) to restore its original feel.
Always start with one even coat, and allow to dry before applying another.
Once the item is dyed and completely dry, application of a water and stain repellent is recommended.
